Mytherapist.ng to bring mental health, money and workplace wellbeing together at Wellness Catalyst 2.0

The Lagos event will bring together professionals, founders, mental-health practitioners, students and community members for conversations around mental health, career, financial wellbeing and the changing ways Nigerians can access therapy.
LAGOS, Nigeria — October 14, 2026 —
Nigerian mental health and wellbeing company Mytherapist.ng will host the second edition of its Wellness Catalyst event on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at Café One, Sterling Bank Dopemu, Lagos.
The event, themed “Mind. Body. Money.”, is designed around a simple idea: wellbeing is rarely shaped by one part of life in isolation.
Mental health can be affected by work, finances, relationships, physical wellbeing, career uncertainty and the pressure of everyday life. Wellness Catalyst 2.0 will bring those conversations into one room through panel discussions, breakout sessions, interactive conversations and the introduction of new ways for people to access mental-health support through Mytherapist.ng.
Around 100 to 120 participants are expected to attend.
Speaking ahead of the event, Oluwaseun Raphael Afolayan, Co-founder of Mytherapist.ng, said the company wanted to create a wellbeing event that felt relevant to the realities people face every day.
“When we talk about mental health, we cannot pretend that it exists separately from everything else happening in people’s lives. Work affects mental health. Money affects mental health. Career uncertainty, relationships, physical health and the pressure to keep up all affect how people feel. Wellness Catalyst is about having those conversations together rather than in isolation.”
Beyond conversations about mental health
Wellness Catalyst 2.0 will feature conversations and breakout sessions covering areas including money and financial wellbeing, mental health in the workplace, and building a career as a mental-health practitioner.
The career-focused session is expected to be particularly relevant to psychology students, recent graduates and early-career mental-health professionals trying to understand how to translate their training into sustainable careers.
Workplace wellbeing will also form a significant part of the programme, reflecting growing conversations about burnout, stress, psychological safety and how organisations can better support employees.

The event will also create opportunities for attendees to engage directly with mental-health professionals and ask practical questions about therapy, wellbeing and accessing support.
Mytherapist.ng is expanding how people can access therapy
Wellness Catalyst 2.0 will also serve as an important product moment for Mytherapist.ng.
Since its launch, the company has primarily enabled people to discover and meet licensed and verified therapists through video, voice and chat.
The company is now expanding that model.
One of the major introductions around Wellness Catalyst 2.0 is In-Person Therapy, which will allow users to find therapists through Mytherapist.ng and choose to meet them physically at approved locations.
The first location is being introduced through a partnership with Café One at Sterling Bank Dopemu, Lagos, where therapy sessions will take place in a dedicated private room rather than the open café or coworking environment.
Mytherapist.ng plans to extend the model to additional Café One locations and other vetted physical spaces over time.
“We are moving towards a future where a person does not necessarily have to think of therapy as either an online service or a traditional clinic,” Afolayan said. “You should be able to find the right therapist and then decide how you want to see them. For one person that may be video. For another person it may be sitting physically with their therapist.”
The approach also creates additional flexibility for therapists who want to provide face-to-face care without independently maintaining consulting offices across the city.
New tools for accessing and sustaining care
In addition to in-person therapy, Mytherapist.ng is using the event to highlight a broader expansion of its mental-health ecosystem.

The platform has been building beyond individual therapy appointments to include tools that help people better understand and manage their wellbeing between sessions.
Mytherapist.ng currently provides features including mental-health assessments, mood tracking, journaling, guided meditation and breathing exercises alongside its therapist-booking infrastructure.
The company is also developing new models intended to make ongoing therapy easier to sustain, including therapy subscription options and alternative payment arrangements designed to reduce some of the financial friction associated with accessing care.
Afolayan said the broader objective is to make Mytherapist.ng useful both when someone actively needs a therapist and during the everyday process of looking after their mental wellbeing.
“Therapy is incredibly important, but mental healthcare cannot begin and end with a 60-minute appointment. We are building an ecosystem where people can understand how they are feeling, access useful tools, find the right professional and continue receiving support in a way that works for their lives.”
Creating more entry points into mental healthcare
Mytherapist.ng was founded in 2021 to make professional mental healthcare easier to access.
The platform now has more than 100 verified therapists and has facilitated more than 5,200 completed therapy sessions, with therapists offering support across a range of specialisms and languages.
The company’s expansion into physical therapy locations represents another attempt to address one of the persistent challenges around mental healthcare: people have different preferences and barriers when seeking support.
Some people prefer the convenience and privacy of therapy from home. Others struggle to connect virtually or simply prefer being in the same room as their therapist.
For Mytherapist.ng, the aim is not to position one model as superior to the other.

It is to give people a choice.
A wider definition of wellness
The decision to combine mental health, financial wellbeing, workplace conversations and career development at Wellness Catalyst also reflects how Mytherapist.ng increasingly defines wellness.
Rather than presenting mental health purely through the lens of illness or crisis, the event aims to create conversations around prevention, self-awareness and the systems that influence how people live.
“One of the things we want people to leave with is the understanding that taking care of your mental health does not have to begin when everything has already gone wrong,” Afolayan said. “It can be part of how you build your career, manage pressure, think about money, navigate relationships and generally build a healthier life.”
Wellness Catalyst 2.0 will take place on:
Date: Saturday, October 17, 2026
Time: 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Venue: Café One, Sterling Bank Dopemu, Lagos
